Our FDA approved and American College of Radiology accredited OBGYN facility offers digital mammography exams. Each screening is performed by registered and licensed specialists, and all images are delivered by board-certified radiologists. Breast exams can lead to early detection of cancer and other health conditions.
The American Cancer Society says women 40 to 44 years old can start scheduling annual breast cancer screenings with mammograms, but should talk about the potential benefits and risks with their physician. This organization recommends women aged 45 to 54 should get mammograms each year. Women who have a family history of breast or other cancers should consult with their physician about receiving mammograms at an earlier age. If any of the following criteria apply, you may not be eligible for a screening mammogram and should discuss your mammogram with your physician as soon as possible:
- Have had breast cancer
- Currently have symptoms of breast problems
- A follow-up appointment of recent abnormal mammogram
How and When to Schedule Your Mammogram Appointment
Call our office at (804) 267-6931 or visit our secure patient portal to make a mammogram appointment. Please send any prior mammogram films sent to our office in advance of your appointment if this is your first visit to our office.
Try to schedule your mammogram for immediately after your menstrual cycle so you will not experience breast tenderness that can occur at other times during your cycle.
A co-payment will be required upon your visit. We ask that you verify insurance coverage before the screening. Please note, your insurance provider may offer different coverage for a screening mammogram than a diagnostic mammogram.
